X-Men X-Perience Live, Global Premiere in NYC

16 May

Let me just start by saying: WOW!

After a night out and sleeping 4 hours to get to the Javits by 6am, I was not prepared to line-up for 10 hours and remain standing for+10… Was it worth it? TOTALLY WORTH IT.Fun times in line with Ray from BecauseCowsMakeDelicious!

First off: I would like to say I was in line behind one of my favorite alt. models/cosplayers, Cin’ Von Quinzel (on FB), and she looks as beautiful as she does on pictures. I was too out of it and shy to say anything. However, now I wish I had asked for a pic; She dressed as Mystique and she looked amazing. I really liked all the cosplayers I saw at the event- Bishop looked great, too.

In line we were given the new flavored Twinkies, pink and blue (which was the one I had), and RedBull– one of my favorite drinks ever… and yes, I know it’s pretty unhealthy, but oh-so-deelish! Thank goodness for that sweet nectar of the gods, it was the one thing that helped me stand and cheer for so long. YEAAAAAAHHH!

The place “red” actually blue carpet was located in the Javits looked GREAT! From the huge X’s hanging from the ceiling to the huge screen projecting 3D images of the characters… the lights, the music, the people. It was all so beautiful. We got some swag (t-shirts and posters) and then it was trivia time with Skeery Jones from Z100- so much stuff signed by Hugh Jackman. Ray won a poster signed by him. Let’s say the questions were a tad off, but we had a great crowd that stuck by their own. I loved the spirit and sense of familiarity in the environment, I felt so happy being there!

I was too busy taking pictures of Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence to remember to ask them to sign my poster, but I did get Booboo Stewart’s and producer Lauren Shuler Donner’s. Wootsies!

Turns out that the first 500 fans to get to the event would get complimentary badges to watch the movie that same day. I was dehydrated and thought I was going to crash and sleep through when I entered, but man, was I wrong. ITWASSOAWESOME! I won’t spoil it for anyone, but I need to say that it was just everything I hoped for and even more so, and I just couldn’t get enough of it. *hearts, winks, and all fangirl stuff* ❤

Ray and I wrote a report on the event for Bleeding Cool. You can read it here.

It was a perfect day with the perfect ending despite the little bumps, which is bound to happen on long days. As I write this I feel as if I’m reliving that day and it feels so great– I mean, nothing better than bitter morning coffee, yummy hotdogs, twinkies, fries, redbull, great company and a cast of the most dreamy and gorgeous people to make a day wonderful.

Peter S. Beagle & The Last Unicorn

5 Oct

Last week I had what seemed to be a one-in-a-Nerd’s-lifetime opportunity: a screening of The Last Unicorn and a chance to meet Peter S. Beagle in person! I bought the tickets as soon as they went on-sale (a month before) after checking the Last Unicorn Tour‘s website on a daily basis to keep myself updated.

I don’t know what I was most excited about– meeting such a prolific author that I admire or the opportunity to see the cause of my unicorn addiction on the big screen; though I am pretty sure both had the nerd-girl in me ecstatic.

Line opened at 1pm and I wasn’t too far behind, thankfully, so I was able to get in line and meet Mr. Peter S. Beagle before the screening. It was an experience. Everyone was just so sweet and nice, starting with Connor C., who talked to me as I was in line and calmed my nerd-nerves. I got a lovely unicorn circlet from Firefly Path, yet sadly I was not able to get the Last Unicorn edition. Let me tell you, I was in such a fan-girl mode that I was not able to say much when I got to Mr. Beagle. He was lovely though and agreed to take a picture with me after he signed my graphic novel, one of the posters I helped put up around NYC, and a special prezzie: one of the film pictures from the original film!

After the line we went in to the theater for a raffle and the screening– sadly, I didn’t win anything, but the guy that was sitting next to me was nice and gave me the black poster of the anniversary edition. Thank you, again, nice person; it meant a lot! It was fantastic to watch the movie on a huge screen. It certainly sparked my obsession a bit more.

So I just want to say thank you, once again, to the magnificent staff for such a wonderful experience. I hope I get to see you, all, at NYCC again next week– and hopefully get more unicorn circlets and the beautiful amigurumi Princess Amalthea.
